Sasha Reid’s sculpture speaks of humans intervention in nature, and how our need to commodify the natural world has a limit. By introducing wood as the vehicle to describe his shapes and forms he has made a connection back to nature and our intervention in it.

Complex arrangements carry evidence of a measured approach to intervention, balancing between stability and chaos. Revelling in the raw quality of wood and showing the hand of the maker gives his work an immediacy, in this way he present objects that sit between a direct natural resource, and wood as used in everyday vernacular. Blemishes, deep cuts and patches, create works that not only show process, but also attest to a truth to materials. - Sasha Reid.
